Rules for Visitors and Companions

All individuals entering Mono, whether as climbers or visitors, must first check in at the reception desk to register their presence.

If this is your first visit:

• Please read the facility’s operating regulations available at reception.
• Check in at reception to complete your registration.
• Signing the Participation Agreement is mandatory for any climbing activity within our facilities.
• For any climbing activity involving individuals under 18 years of age, parental consent through the signing of the Participation Agreement is required.

If you are accompanying children, please note:

• Mono is primarily a sports facility and is not suitable for purely recreational activities. For safety reasons, games such as tag, ball games, or remote-controlled toys are not permitted.
• Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied and continuously supervised by an adult.
• Entry to the indoor wall (boulder area) is allowed only when accompanied by a coach.
• Gym equipment (rings, weights) may be used by children only with the permission and supervision of a coach.
• Please note that consumption of food and beverages other than those provided by our bar is prohibited.
• Mono is pet-friendly. For everyone’s safety and comfort, dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and owners must clean up after them.
• Filming or recording training sessions or programs is not permitted.
• Any action that distracts climbers or belayers is prohibited.
• Food and drinks are not allowed in climbing areas.
• Compliance with instructions from Mono staff is mandatory for safety reasons. Failure to comply may result in removal from the premises.
• Any form of threatening or abusive language or gestures toward members, visitors, or staff is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate removal.

Climbing with Rope Rules

(Please also refer to the Safety & Belaying Rules below)

 

• Climbers must check in at reception upon arrival.
• Climbers must demonstrate sufficient belaying knowledge, as determined by Mono staff. On-site belay training between climbers is prohibited unless the instructor remains on the ground at all times and supervises the trainee.
• If Mono staff identify a risk of physical injury due to improper belaying, participants will be asked to continue climbing in the boulder area or to stop climbing entirely.
• Climbers may rent a rope from Mono or bring their own, provided it is at least 45 meters long. Climbers are responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in good condition.
• Rented ropes must be returned neatly coiled (butterfly coil) before departure.
• Climbers renting a Gri-Gri must return it before leaving; otherwise, half of its retail value will be charged.
• The outdoor wall (tower) is exclusively for rope climbing. Traversing or bouldering on the tower is prohibited.
• Climbers assume full responsibility for their physical safety and personal belongings while rope climbing.
• Do not hold or step on bolts, bolt hangers, or quickdraws.
• Climbing without climbing shoes is prohibited.
• Food and drinks are not allowed in climbing areas.
• Minimum age to belay is 14, unless participating in a Mono program.
• Only certified climbing equipment in good condition is permitted.
• Use of Alpine Bod harnesses is prohibited.
• Consumption of alcohol or prohibited substances during climbing is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate suspension.
• Any threatening or abusive language or gestures will result in immediate removal from the premises.
• Balancing, acrobatic exercises, or similar dangerous activities are prohibited.
• Do not climb with objects in your pockets.
• Mono reserves the right to revoke or suspend access due to unsafe or inappropriate behavior.
• Mono is a private facility. Failure to comply with its rules, policies, or safety standards will result in removal.
• Climbing shoes are not permitted in restrooms or common areas.
• Only closed-toe shoes are allowed when using training equipment.
• Belaying during Mono programs is performed exclusively by Mono’s certified coaches/belayers.
• Only Mono instructors are authorized to train users on Auto Belay systems.

Boulder climping rules

• Do not climb over the top of bouldering walls.
• Do not sit or lie down beneath climbers.
• For hygiene reasons, climbing is permitted only with climbing shoes.
• Do not walk barefoot or with climbing shoes in common areas (café, restrooms).
• Keep the bouldering floor free of objects and obstacles.
• Please brush holds before and after use.
• Children under 12 may enter the bouldering area only under the supervision of a coach.
• Traversing is prohibited.
• Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, headphones, and MP3 players are not allowed during bouldering.
• Bouldering climbers assume full responsibility for their physical safety and personal belongings.
• Alcohol consumption during climbing is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate suspension.
• Do not climb with objects in your pockets.
• Balancing, acrobatic exercises, or similar dangerous activities are prohibited.

Safety - Belaying Rules

• All international climbing safety standards are strictly enforced. If staff identify non-compliance, climbers will be asked to continue in the boulder area or stop climbing.
• Any identified risk due to improper belaying may result in immediate suspension of rope climbing.
• Climbers must tie in using a figure-eight follow-through knot.
• Belayers using a Gri-Gri or similar device must always keep the brake hand on the rope.
• Belayers must remain standing at all times.
• Belayers must stand at a reasonable distance from the wall and always within the designated safety zone (gravel). Do not stand too far back or away from anchors.
• Belayers must be at least 14 years old, unless enrolled in a Mono program.
• Unclipping another climber’s rope and replacing it with your own is strictly prohibited.
• Top-rope climbing directly beneath a lead climber is prohibited.
• Lead climbing directly beneath a top-rope climber is prohibited.
• Do not distract climbers or belayers.
• Free solo climbing is strictly prohibited.
• Always perform safety checks before climbing. Check and recheck knots, harnesses, and equipment—yours and your partner’s.
• Always use clear climbing commands.
• Please do not lower top-rope systems. Use a separate rope for lead climbing and clip into the quickdraw below the anchor.
• Practicing belay maneuvers is not permitted.
• Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, headphones, and MP3 players are not permitted during belaying or climbing.
